The Author

auRay W. Rowney, Jr is retired, 77 years old at mid-2015, born in Youngstown, OH and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Business Administration, and later an MBA, majoring in accounting. Enjoyed 23 years of varied experiences with multi-national corporation headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA in all facets of accounting, financial administration, and systems and procedures (both domestically and internationally). Upon return to US in 1983 from responsibilities as Company Secretary/Controller for Engineering and Construction Operations in Australia (headquartered Sydney), the author elected semi-retirement to share with younger would-be business persons and promote the importance of Christian values and ethics.

Developed a Business curriculum for Tusculum College (northeast TN) and served as adjunct faculty for both Tusculum’s and Walter State Community College’s evening programs. Provided small business consulting services through WSCC’s Small Business Development Center until December 1993, when author elected full-time retirement to concentrate on volunteer Christian outreaches.

Founded a small public charity, Christian Self-Help, Inc. (“CSH”), in 1992 and has served as Treasurer ever since. Created and is Trustee for The Rowney Family Charitable Remainder Trust and The CSH Administrative Charitable Trust (a private operating foundation). Author serves as Financial Advisor to local Greeneville-Greene County Community Ministries and sister organization which he co-founded, a temporary emergency shelter called “Opportunity House”.
